Hi everyone! I haven’t updated my blog in forever, so I figured it was time to let you all know what’s going on!
First of all, the release of my first novel in November went great. I had no idea what to expect, and considering the fact that it’s my first book, no one knows who I am and I self-pubbed, I am thrilled with the results. Thanks to everyone who bought a copy or read through Kindle Unlimited, and everyone who took the time to leave a review on Goodreads or Amazon. It is much appreciated! I do plan to take it off of KU and make it available on all the other platforms at some point, but I haven’t fully decided whether to let it run for only one 90 day cycle or two. So we’ll see.
Now we’re at the beginning of a brand new year, I may as well let you know what my plan is for 2018! I have great intentions…maybe making them public will hold me accountable? Feel free to pressure me on social media to help keep me motivated. If I know people actually want to read what I’m writing I’m more likely to do it. 🙂
So.
My first project for 2018 is an untitled prequel to A Bolt of Blue, currently known as Angel’s #2. It takes place about 5 years prior, and is Erik and Hank’s book. I’ve written very little of it so far, but every day I chip a way a little more at the outline so that when I finally am able to make myself concentrate on writing, hopefully the amount of time I spend staring at a blinking cursor will be minimal.
Since A Bolt of Blue was self-pubbed, I will self-pub Angel’s #2 as well to maintain consistency. I also wanted to speed up the publishing process because I want to build on my momentum.
I do want to experience the traditional publishing route though! I need a point of comparison. So after Angel’s #2, I have a F/F novella I keep kicking around in my head. One of these days I need to write it! So it’s planned second for the year, and I plan to submit that to a “traditional” publisher – if you can call queer romance e-publishers traditional. 🙂
Project 3 for the year is another m/m/m. I have very specific ideas of what I do and do not like in m/m/m, and I was really happy with how A Bolt of Blue turned out. It fit all my standards. So then I thought, well was that it? Is there another story idea in there that would fit my personal preferences? It basically challenged myself to come up with something, and I was surprised by how quickly the plot idea came to me. That will be a full length and I also plan to submit that to a pub.
And project 4 is one I started in 2017. I started a sweet, low steam YA novella that I decided to put on the back burner so I could focus on continuing the Angel’s series and “building my brand” if you will. I didn’t think this novella was necessarily representative of what my work will be when taken as a whole. It’s very different from A Bolt of Blue, and I wanted to build on that rather than start over with something completely different so it was kind of a marketing decision to push that one to the side. Once those other three books are out, I think people will have a better idea of what to expect from me and so this sweet YA book won’t be so misleading.
I also think it will be the first in a trilogy, and if I can make it work I’ll try to publish all three in quick succession. But for now my goal is just to finish the first one by the end of the year. That’ll be another self-pub. I toyed around with creating some covers using the Canva app, and I really love what I came up with. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get permission to use those images so no guarantees anyone will actually see the covers I made, but I was pretty proud of myself. 🙂
So that’s my plan for the year. I can almost guarantee it will change. It’s also very ambitious considering my output to this point, but I know it’s doable if I focus so I’m asking you guys to help keep me on track. Please!!!
Thanks for reading. 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful year!
